My house needs that little something

posted by:

I have always heard that you need to have ‘curb appeal’ with your house.  Well when I was coming home yesterday, I realized that you couldn’t see my address from the street.  I needed a nice address plaque that would look good and be able to be seen from the street.  So I headed to my computer and start searching for address plaques.  I found some really nice ones too.  The only problem was that I also found some address signs that I liked too.  Now I had to decide which I wanted.  An address sign would look great at the end of the driveway.

I just want to make sure that what ever I get adds something to my home.  I wanted something that would show something about my home and I.   You know I really liked the wall address plaques but that doesn’t mean I can’t also choose something from the home address plaques for my porch and then also one for my mailbox too.  With the selection they have, this is going to be harder than I thought it would be to pick out just one or possibly two.

Bathroom almost finished

I had no idea how much was involved in getting the mold out of my bathroom.  The job still isn’t totally finished because of putting down ceramic tile on the floor.  You have to let the grout ‘cure’ for so long before you seal it.  Once that’s done, then I can have the baseboards put in and the shoe molding too and it will finally be finished.  I think it looks great too.  I love the full size shower.  It’s so much better than the old bathtub that was in there.

Did you know that they make mold and mildew resistant dry wall?  I didn’t before this.  They also make paint that is mold and mildew resistant too and of course both of those things are in my bathroom.  I will just be glad when it’s finally totally done though.  It’s going to look great!!

Don’t you just hate moving?

The worst part about moving is trying to find good moving companies.  After all, they are responsible of moving everything you own more or less and you want to make sure you find good movers that have a good reputation and will take care of your stuff through the move.  I have heard too many horror stories from people that have had nightmares with some movers.  Did you know that there is a company that actually has moving software?  Well there is.  I was surprised too.

I know a lot of people use budget van lines for their moves and there are several to choose from too.  I have used them too but one thing is for sure, before you decide on which one to hire, you should check out the budget van lines before you make your choice.  Ask a neighbor who they used or if they have ever used anyone to move them.  Check online too.  That’s the best place to find a lot of different budget van lines but the best way most of the time is word of mouth so ask someone or check out someones blog if you know of one that talks about moving.  Just a little friendly advice you might want to use.

Now this is a wonderful teacher

posted by:

I received an email that was about a teacher.  Unfortunately there are several pictures that go with the email and I felt that the story was so wonderful that it needed to be heard by as many people as possible.  Let me see if I can get the pictures on here and you still be able to read it without making my post look cluttered.  I hope I can.  Well it didn’t work so now I’ll just tell you what the teacher did.

This teacher brought each student from her graduating class to the front of the room, told them what a difference they made in her life and how.  Then she gave them a blue ribbon which said “Who I am makes a difference” then handed them 3 more to go out and give to someone that has made a difference to them and ask them to do the same thing with the other ribbons.  Long story short, those simple little blue ribbons gave a lot of people a different outlook on their own value.

People just don’t realize that they make a difference to others and this was a great exercise for the students.  I am a firm believer in making sure that anyone and everyone that has made a difference in my life knows it.  This teacher just took it a step farther than I have.

I’m switching to Direct TV

posted by:

I am so sick of cable!  Every other month it seems like they add some new charge to my bill and my Internet service keeps going up too.  What’s up with that?  There’s never any explanation, just the new charge and I’m sick of it.  Because of that I’m switching to Direct TV.  In fact, I grew up with Direct TV at home and I honestly miss having it.  The only reason I had cable was because my stupid ex-husband wanted it instead of Direct TV.  Shows how smart he was, huh?

I’ve been checking out the Direct TV deals online.  They have some really good Direct TV offers right now too.  In fact, they always have good deals.  I can get it hooked up in as many rooms as I want or need and it doesn’t cost me out the ying-yang like the cable did.  In fact, I can have it installed in up to 4 rooms for free.  Plus I can get a free DVR or HD receiver too.  My cable charged me extra for my DVR.  I was checking out their Direct TV packages and I can get more channels for less than I have been paying too.  That totally sealed the deal for me.  In fact, I’m calling them today and telling cable goodbye because after all, Direct TV is Americas #1 satellite provider!
