Do you ever wake up before the alarm clock goes off? For some reason I woke up about 10 minutes before my alarm was supposed to ring. I laid there for a moment and then decided to get on up and get an early start to my day. I was able to take my time eating breakfast and getting dressed. I feel really good about starting my day without rushing around. I hope the rest of the day is as good as my morning!

On Tuesday, the Senate health committee voted 12-11 in favor of a two-page amendment courtesy of Republican Tom Coburn that would require all Members and their staffs to enroll in any new government-run health plan. It took me less than a minute to sign up to require our congressmen and senators to drink at the same trough! Three cheers for Congressman John Fleming of Louisiana !

Congressman John Fleming (Louisiana physician) has proposed an amendment that would require congressmen and senators to take the same health care plan they force on us (under proposed legislation they are curiously exempt).

Congressman Fleming is encouraging people to go on his Website and sign his petition (very simple – just first, last and email). I have immediately done just that at: http://fleming.house.gov/index.html. Please urge as many people as you can to do the same!

If Congress forces this on the American people, the Congressmen should have to accept the same level of health care for themselves and their families.

My grandparents are getting older

I have a hard time admitting that my grandparents are getting older, ya know. I still see them as I did as a child. One thing I’m very happy about is they’re redoing one of their bathrooms with one of those walk-in bathtubs. My grandfather is getting up in age and my grandmother has bad knees so it’s hard for both of them to step into their other tub.

There are several models of walk-in tubs for them to choose from too. I had no idea there were as many as there are but I was sure glad to see that. In fact, on that web site I found many links and resources for the elderly and disabled that I was totally unaware of. I guess things like that don’t get your attention unless you know of someone personally in need of resources like that. It’s a great service they provide for the elderly and disabled I think. I know I was glad to see them to help out my grandparents.

I watched the Barbara Walters special last night with Patrick Swayze and his wife Lisa Niemi. The great love they have was totally obvious. Now she faces the rest of her life without him. What a shame. They both were such amazing dancers too. Here’s to your love Patrick and Lisa. May God be with you through this great loss in your life.

Here I have racks for wine glasses and a wine rack in my kitchen and it suddenly dawned on me, I don’t have a proper wine opener. Well I just can’t have just any old cork screw. I want a Rogar estate wine opener. They make a statement like the rest of my kitchen does. You have got to see them. Rogar wine openers are as special as your own individuality.

I found them online by shear accident and boy and I glad I did too. I was searching for a champagne wine opener and that’s when I found them. I had no idea what-so-ever that anyone made such beautiful openers. Have you ever seen an estate wine opener? You really should check them out because they are beautiful. Rogar corkscrews make your wine taste more expensive simply with their beauty.

Now I sure hope no one is offended by this but I just thought it was good for a laugh.

STUD ROOSTER

A farmer went out one day and bought a brand new stud rooster for his chicken coop. The new rooster struts over to the old rooster and says, ‘OK old fart, Time for you to retire.’

The old rooster replies, ‘Come on, surely you cannot handle ALL of these chickens. Look what it has done to me Can’t you just let me have the two old hens over in the corner?’

The young rooster says, ‘Beat it: You are washed up and I am taking over.’

The old rooster says, ‘I tell you what, young stud. I will race you around the farmhouse. Whoever wins gets the exclusive domain over the entire chicken coop.’

The young rooster laughs. ‘You know you don’t stand a chance, old man. So, just to be fair, I will give you a head start.’

The old rooster takes off running. About 15 seconds later the young rooster takes off running after him. They round the front porch of the farmhouse and the young rooster has closed the gap. He is only about 5 feet behind the old rooster and gaining fast!

The farmer, meanwhile, is sitting in his usual spot on the front porch when he sees the roosters running by. The Old Rooster is squawking and running as hard as he can.

The Farmer grabs his shotgun and – BOOM – He blows the young rooster to bits. The farmer sadly shakes his head and says,

‘Darn it……Third gay rooster I bought this month.’

Moral of this Story? ….

Don’t mess with the OLD FARTS – Age, skill, wisdom, and a little treachery always overcome youth and arrogance!

Heading to the beach

Well I figured I would take the weekend and get away for awhile. I’m heading to the beach this evening. I really could use a break with everything that’s going on but that’s another story.

I love going down to my grandparents beach house because I can just lay around and do nothing if I want or find something to do too. Personally, I just like being at the house. No need to go anywhere but to the grocery store, which is only a quarter of a mile from their house. Well here’s hoping each and everyone of you have a great, relaxing Labor Day weekend!!!

Many years ago, AYDS wasn’t a bad word. In fact, it was a diet aid. I showed this commercial to my grandmother and she told me she used to use the product. Now this old commercial is totally not politically correct. In fact, it’s pretty scary if you ask me!!

I love fish but yeah, I hate the bones. This looks like a great product but they should have come up with a better commercial and it might have caught on. You’ll see what I mean once you watch the commercial.

How the fight started

I got sent a whole list of “How the fight started” jokes and had to share them with you. I’ll just include a few at a time because there were several of them. I hope that’s okay with you after all, we all need a good laugh from time to time and this is one of those times I feel.

One year, a husband decided to buy his mother-in-law a cemetery plot as a Christmas gift.

The next year, he didn’t buy her a gift.When she asked him why, he replied, “Well, you still haven’t used the gift I bought you last year!”

I asked my wife, ‘Where do you want to go for our anniversary?’ It warmed my heart to see her face melt in sweet appreciation. ‘Somewhere I haven’t been in a long time!’ she said. So I suggested, ‘How about the kitchen?’

I tried to talk my wife into buying a case of Miller Light for $14.95. Instead, she bought a jar of cold cream for $7.95. I told her the beer would make her look better at night than the cold cream.
