Almost ran over a groundhog today

posted by:

This morning I had to run errands in town, and on my way in a groundhog decided to run out into the road in front of my car. I had to go all the way over into the other lane (thank goodness no traffic was coming!) in order to avoid hitting him. I remember when I saw him my first thought was “why is he up, he saw his shadow two days ago and declared another six weeks of winter!)

I guess that particular groundhog didn’t get the memo to go back to bed!

Keith found a job

Mom was telling me that she finally heard from Keith, after six months of silence. Seems that he hitch-hiked out to California with a friend of his and after bumming around for a while finally got his act together and started working for a Los Angeles moving company as a helper. Mom was so happy to hear from him; you could just see her eyes lit up. Seems that he had made friends with some other men that worked for the same LA movers company and they helped him to get hired.

Keith has such a strong work ethic that whatever company of Los Angeles movers were lucky enough to get him will certainly get their money’s worth out of him! I can remember one time when Mom wanted our refrigerator moved out from the wall so she could clean behind it and Keith just picked it up and said “where do you want it Mom?” My jaw hit the floor when that happened!

What is up with the groundhog?

From what I heard, the groundhog saw several shadows and went back to bed. The sun had not even risen yet, and he went back to bed!? If all of the reporters would just leave the poor critter alone then that wouldn’t happen! Probably all of the television crew lights that caused him to see his shadow. Why do they wake that poor guy up before sunrise? If I were him I’d bite his handlers and then pee on them just to get even for waking me up!

I’d love some professional help with my kitchen

Even though I really like my house, one of the things that has always bothered me about this place is where is the best place to put some
kitchen spice racks. Almost every woman that I know keeps her spice rack really close to their kitchen range. My mother had a custom spice racks built into the cabinet above her range, and she loved it!

Yet, I’ve read that spices should not be kept near a source of heat, so that tells me that they should be stored away from the range. I like the idea of the racks that fold up under the cabinets, but they don’t seem to hold very much.Organizing a kitchen would be so much easier if all spice cans and bottles were the exact same size and shape; it is difficult to properly store so many different odd mix and match containers!

I’ll eat them but I don’t especially like them

Having decided to try to lose a few pounds, I bought some of those Special K cracker chips yesterday. They were on sale, and I thought to myself that I would like them. Well, I don’t like them very much at all. They are too spicy-hot for my liking. Because of that I want to cover them with sour cream to cool them down! And I don’t believe that adding sour cream to them would help to accomplish my “lose a few pounds” strategy.

Not wanting to waste food, or money, I’ll eat them up. But I won’t buy them again.
