Finger Kites

posted by:

This time of year we always have windy days. My dad used to say that the rain comes in the spring to help get the plants and trees growing for the season. But if we have too much rain, it drowns the plants and kills the trees. So that is why we have wind – to help keep the ground dry enough to promote the growth of the grass, flowers, garden vegetables and the trees.

For me, I’m just glad that I found some cute finger kites on sale at K-Mart for one dollar. I keep 5 of them in the glove compartment of my car, and when I have the chance to stop and spend 20 minutes enjoying the outdoors, I can pull out some kites and have some fun with the wind.

Flats to rent

When I think of all of the great ways the Internet has made life easier, I am simply amazed. For example, back when I was a young adult, looking for Flats to rent in Glasgow I had to depend on a newspaper advertisement. And if I was coming int own from a place far away from there I had to first rent a hotel room for several days before I could get my bearing.

Now it seems as easy as pie because with the Internet you can go to to a variety of websites designed to help people who are looking for Flats to rent in Edinburgh or Flats to rent in Aberdeen or any other place in the UK.

The website I was just looking at is called lettingweb.com, and what I like about the website is that in addition to looking for flats to rent, you can also use the searching wizard to find a room mate. I think that is an especially handy feature for single people, to be able to find not only a place to live, but someone to share the rental fees with. Yes, the Internet has definitely made life a lot easier for a lot of people.

Same old same old

Have you ever watched any of those interior designers shows on television? I used to watch Decorating Sense and Design on a Dime, but I haven’t seen them on the television listings for a very long time. I’m getting very tired of looking at all of my furnishings in the same spot all of the time. I’ve been thinking about rearranging a few rooms, but to be perfectly honest the majority of the decorating scheme of this place has been “where will this fit” and not necessarily “where will this look really terrific.”

I was looking at a website I found recently – houzz.com – and saw that it had a lot of resources for interior decorating. Some of the featured bathroom designs really made me want to have my master bathroom renovated; there were some fabulous baths there. The website has a search function to search for a local professional interior designer. Out of curiosity I typed in the name of my town, and was very surprised that there were no results. The biggest reason for my surprise is that just last week I met two different ladies that told me that they are professional interior decorators! The next time I see them I think I’ll mention this website to them as a resource and suggest that they check it out. My guess is that they will have to pay for a listing, but I think it is worth checking out anyway. After all, when trying to promote a business, all avenues should be explored, right?

Too many calories, too much salt

One of the biggest contributors to the problem of obesity in my opinion, is the sad fact that Americans are too rushed. The financial pressures that they are under are causing them to work more hours, which leaves them less time to cook nutritious meals. Because of that lack of time they end up buying quick-fix short-cut convenience meals which taste really fantastic, but have too much salt, too much fat, too many calories, too many additives, too much everything bad for you and darn little anything good for you.

To make the problem worse, the foods that are good for you are more expensive to purchase than the foods that are not healthy. So when a person is short on time and short on money then they are going to go to the fast and cheap meal. I know that there are families where all of the adults work outside the home and are happy with their jobs because they have rewarding careers and are making great money and can afford to hire people to help raise the children and cook good and nutritious meals, but that is not the majority of the families in America. I sure wish that it WAS the majority of the families, but it isn’t. And now I think that I had better end this post before I start a political ranting that will prove to my readers that I am a nutcase!

Pizza Hut cinnamon sticks

posted by:

Tonight we ordered pizza from the local Pizza Hut. Meat lover’s pan pizza – my favorite. And a large order of cheesy bread sticks. In addition I had found a coupon code for an order of bread sticks and a 2 liter bottle of Pepsi, so I decided to go ahead and order that as well. I decided to order their cinnamon bread sticks.

When I went to pick up the order, something told me to open the boxes to check and make sure that I got the right order. They had forgotten to put the marinara sauce in with the cheese bread sticks. When I asked the lady at the counter for some marinara sauce she snarled at me that they were included. I told her I couldn’t see any and so she jerked open the box of bread sticks and started to say “they’re right he…..” she stopped when she saw they there weren’t any little cups of sauce. So she went and got some for me, and I thanked her.

When we got home after my two slices of pizza and some cheese bread sticks I tried one of the cinnamon sticks. They were very sweet. Normally I like sweet things, but to be honest I really did not care for them very much because of the consistency of the pizza dough. I guess I’ll just stick to pizza and cheesy bread at Pizza Hut and stick to a bakery for cinnamon sticks.
