Sun spots wreaking havoc

posted by:

Recently I saw on the news that there is expected sun spot activity happening right now. The story continued on to explain that sun spots interfere with electronic equipment here on earth, and that people should expect some difficulties with their cell phones and GPS systems. Sure enough, my own cell phone was not working well today, and several other people that I’ve spoken with through out the day have indicated that they have been having trouble with their cell phones as well. Weird, huh?!

Where IS George?

posted by:

When the clerk at Food Lion gave me change from my twenty, I found a Where’s George bill. I never seem to remember how to log in my “account” on that site, but when I find the bills every once in a while, I do put them in for tracking.

This bill said:

This bill has traveled 116 Miles in 2 Yrs, 188 Days, 10 Hrs, 6 Minutes at an average of 0.13 Miles per day. It is now 116 Miles from its starting location.

The initial entry read this: My name is Isabella and I am four. My daddy is going to use this bill to buy gas on his way to work tomorrow.

Although it is cute to think that a four year old has a “Where’s George” account on the internet, I doubt this little girl has a clue as to what it is all about. I think adults who make accounts for their kids or pets and then write as if they were the kid or the pet – those people are just weird.

Too Quiet?

posted by:

For no good reason other than I had the thought, I have not turned on the TV all day today. I usually have the TV on in the morning while I get dressed and then leave it on for the dogs to keep them company while I’m at work. But I decided to leave it off today and see if it made any difference in who long it takes me to dress and whether the dogs even care. So far it has been very quiet and peaceful. I think I will leave it off tonight, as well. If I must have noise in the house, let it be laughter and music.

Discovering Photoblogs

posted by:

When I took my camera to the Wolff Camera store, the manager helped me a lot. I have this awesome little Sony digital pocket camera and I want to get something a little better. That means, more expensive. He showed me a lot of great cameras and I will definitely go back there to buy my new camera because I appreciate how much time he spent with me.

He told me about some photoblogs on the internet, which I had never even heard of before. know about blogs – I just didn’t know there are photoblogs out there. So I am looking for photoblogs and seeing the work that the photographers did – if you know of any that you can suggest to me, please leave a comment on this post for me or shoot me an email with their web site.

Some of them explain the settings and the post processing that they used, which is really helpful to me as a beginner. And most of them describe their camera equipment that they used. So far, it is an even race between Cannon and Nike.

Redbox is Cool

I saw the Redbox machines popping up all over town about 2 years ago. So I just now got around to walking up to one and taking a look. It sounds like a really good deal – rent a current movie for $1 for the night. I don’t see how they can do it so cheap when the video stores are all going out of business. But it’s hard to beat $1 for an evening’s entertainment.
