So you’ve spent heaps of time organising, preparing, inviting all your friends to you wonderful party and you’re all set for an awesome night. When we were kids we used to give people a lolly bag and some cake to take away with them as a reminder of the party, but that isn’t appropriate for when you are all grown up. But wouldn’t it be great to be able to give them something to remember the night by? Here are 5 great ideas for giving people something to remember the awesome time they had at your party.

Fridge Magnet

A great gift idea for friends to take away from the party as a souvenir is a Vistaprint magnet. You could make a cool design that best encompasses the theme of your party and get it made up before the event. People will be able to put it on their fridge and remember the awesome time they had with you that night. Not only is a magnet functional but it will give them a laugh and a lift when they see it and think of you!

Certificates

Certificates for people are another great idea for parties. You could have a presentation ceremony as part of the party and if you think up some funny ideas it will give everyone a laugh and it will be a party to remember. Your mate that is a ladies man could get the “Biggest Ladies Man” certificate, or there could be one for the person who has the “Most Tequila Shots and is still Standing Up.” Let your imagination run wild and see what amusing certificates you can come up with for your friends to take away with them to remember the night.

Arty Fun

Having small canvases, pens and paint at the party is a great activity for friends to do while they are there. Not only will give them something to do, and a way to express themselves but they will have something to take home with them to remember the evening by. It is also a great way to get people to interact with each other if there are people who don’t know each other.

Photo Booth

Having a photo booth at a party is a great way to ensure that people remember the awesome time they had. You don’t need to hire a professional one as making it yourself with a digital camera and printer is just as good. You could make a frame for people to pose in front of and have one of your friends as the designated photographer for the night. If you want to go the extra mile a laminating machine will ensure that the photo lasts for a long time.

Sweet Treats

Homemade sweet treats is another great idea for guests to take away with them to remember your party by. You could package them in cellophane and tie them with a ribbon so that when they wake up the next morning at home they will remember what an awesome time they had and enjoy a sweet treat on you!

I Love Plants

One thing I got from my grandmother is the love of plants. I have them everywhere inside and out.  Nothing makes your plants look nicer than pretty planters. I have several decorative planters for my weeping fig tree and other large plants I have inside. Why put a beautiful plant in just a plain old planter? That makes no sense to me at all. In fact, my weeping fig tree is in a high end planter so it looks absolutely beautiful in my living room and is doing quite well thank you very much.

Even some of my outside plants are in window box planters. I love that look. It really dresses up the outside of your windows much like curtains dress up the inside of them. I also have two outside planters on each side of my front door with some of those little pines that they cut in a spiral shape. They look great. In fact, I’m thinking of getting some garden planters for my back deck. I just might put some tomato plants in them so I can have fresh tomatoes. Tomatoes are famous for being priced so high at all the grocery stores here in town.

It was nice to get a hand written thank you card in my mail box today from my nephew, thanking me for the Christmas present that I sent him that he is thoroughly thrilled with. I was lucky enough to find a very affordable tascam dr680, which is a Portable Multitrack Recorder. The exact one that he wanted. My sister was kind enough to video tape him unwrapping this years Christmas present from his Aunt Kate and the other nieces and nephew as well. But I have a special bond with her oldest son who I spent a lot of time with when he was younger before they moved down to Tennessee, which is quite a drive.

Once in a while we see each other over the holidays, but when we can’t it’s great to see a video of all of the excitement going on over at her house on Christmas morning. Our Christmas’s are so quiet around here. No one waking up at 5 or 6 a.m. rushing around trying to get everything ready and everyone happy. It’s more of a nice laid back morning, with a nice cup of coffee and a big breakfast and then on to the presents and then all the phone calls.

This night is a little unusual as we are having breakfast for dinner. We had planned to have a big breakfast this weekend but for one reason or another it just didn’t work out. Anyway, we had all these breakfast foods in the fridge that we had to use up.

That’s why we decided to cook up a nice breakfast and pretend it was morning. I think this is a great idea and am more than ready to eat some sausage and egg with cheese sandwiches.

Savannah bars

Today I went to a meeting where the person running the meeting brought in some Savannah bars from the Great Harvest Bread Company in old town. To be perfectly honest I had never been inside the Great Harvest bakery – I wanted to avoid the high prices and the empty calories. But since the food was being offered for free during the meeting, I decided to go ahead and help myself. First I had a piece of some kind of scone that had berries and cream cheese in it. I expected it to be very dry; after all every single scone I’ve ever eaten in my life was hard and dry and was, in my opinion, a waste of time.

But this was moist and delicious! The addition of the cream cheese was just the perfect touch! I thought I had never had anything so yummy in my life! But THEN I bit into the Savannah bar! I felt like I had died and gone to heaven! Towards the end of the meeting I saw that there were a few pieces left, so I went ahead and helped myself to another one.

After the meeting I found myself driving into old town and going into the Great Harvest Bakery. It smelled so good in there! All of the employees greeted me with great big smiles (Love it already!) and they offered me a slice of bread to sample. One of the bread choices had strawberries in it, and I said I’d like to sample that. It was still warm and oh my goodness yummy! If I wasn’t already going to buy some of the Savannah bars and scones I would have bought a loaf of that bread too! I will definitely have to go back there and buy some of that in the near future!
