Savannah bars

posted by:

Today I went to a meeting where the person running the meeting brought in some Savannah bars from the Great Harvest Bread Company in old town. To be perfectly honest I had never been inside the Great Harvest bakery – I wanted to avoid the high prices and the empty calories. But since the food was being offered for free during the meeting, I decided to go ahead and help myself. First I had a piece of some kind of scone that had berries and cream cheese in it. I expected it to be very dry; after all every single scone I’ve ever eaten in my life was hard and dry and was, in my opinion, a waste of time.

But this was moist and delicious! The addition of the cream cheese was just the perfect touch! I thought I had never had anything so yummy in my life! But THEN I bit into the Savannah bar! I felt like I had died and gone to heaven! Towards the end of the meeting I saw that there were a few pieces left, so I went ahead and helped myself to another one.

After the meeting I found myself driving into old town and going into the Great Harvest Bakery. It smelled so good in there! All of the employees greeted me with great big smiles (Love it already!) and they offered me a slice of bread to sample. One of the bread choices had strawberries in it, and I said I’d like to sample that. It was still warm and oh my goodness yummy! If I wasn’t already going to buy some of the Savannah bars and scones I would have bought a loaf of that bread too! I will definitely have to go back there and buy some of that in the near future!

Old letters

posted by:

Recently my sister emailed me copies of an old letter that she had that was written by our grandparents many years ago. The letter was not dated, but we could tell that it was written a long time ago because they have been dead for a long time now.

The letter was a brief autobiography of my grandfather, and of his life in London back in the early 1900′s. It talked about how he met our grandmother, how they came to the United States and how they raised their kids. The letter spoke to the hardships of their lives, how there were many days when they had no food to eat, how they lived in a house that had so many holes in the ceilings that you could see the stars at night through the slats, and how when it snowed the snow accumulated on the floor inside.

I wish that he had written more; I found the letters very interesting.

TV to distract me

Thanks for the post from Kirk Wood

I really cannot remember the last time I really watched a lot of TV. Do not get me wrong; we have a TV and with lots of channels on it too. The problem is that I just have not had the time recently to keep up with my shows. We have had DIRECTV for so long and we even got some great deals on it. It has been nice to have because I have a lot of options for when I do have the time to watch TV. Shows like Boardwalk Empire and Damages are not really widely available. Those types of shows are on the channels that play movies all the time. It is always interesting to watch shows like that. They do not always have some huge budget to make an elaborate show, but they still do a really good job presenting the story and distracting me from whatever stresses I had throughout the day. One of the biggest things I have needed distraction from recently is one of my sisters. For whatever reason, we have not been getting along recently. I am really looking forward to the period of time where we are not mad at each other just about every day.

That makes me nervous

David was telling me that he was thinking about partnering with Merle in a cash advance affiliate program that he found out about through Blue Global Media. Apparently he was impressed by their website, and he thinks that with his Business degree and Merle’s accounting degree that they can make a success out of the venture.

I’m a little bit nervous about the venture because I’ve heard that some states are thinking about making payday loans illegal, but David and Merle are confident that won’t happen in this state. They are already picking out their storefront site and talking about payday loan leads and are very excited about the whole thing. I hope that they are not biting off more than they can chew!

I don’t mean to be rude, but I don’t work here!

Finding myself in an internet cafe at the hotel that I’m staying in, a couple of young ladies interrupted my work, asking me where my restrooms are located! It took me a moment to realize that they must have thought that since I was dressed in a business suit that I must work there! I apologized to the ladies and explained that I did not work there, and I don’t know where the restrooms are. As they walked away I had to suppress a chuckle. I hope they find what they are looking for!
